Drill pilot holes

Fitted to 6 chairs, 2 weeks ago and the chairs glide easily over a solid wood floor without marking. Tried fitting these to solid oak chair legs and the nails in these can bend if you try to hammer them in to hard wood like oak without first drilling a small pilot hole. The nails could also do with a serrated edge to make them more secure.
